Organic Gardening Success. I love gardening. What I love more is feeling the accomplishment of Organic Gardening Success.
Several years ago, maybe a few more than that, I grew Organically. The intent was get two acres Certified Organic. Although a fabulous experience I was unable to garden the two acres that I rented for the entire 3 years. So, the Oregon Organic Certification goal was not reached.
During that period it was the process that was exhilarating. The purchasing of all of the supplies, products, seed, equipment all added to the experience of the growing operation. Growing part of a communities meals on a daily basis while knowing the health benefits was priceless.
Certification | Organic Gardening Success
It was the process of striving for the Organic Certification that was very rewarding. Starting from scratch on two acres of land was a brand new undertaking. Fortunately I was able to grow beautiful produce which was shared the entire growing season with the local Community.
In addition a delivery of organically grown greens was started delivering to nearly a hundred homes weekly. Add to that a Corner Growers Market was opened which became the talk of Town.
Community | Organic Gardening Success
The connection to the Community, the acceptance of the need of quality produce was inspiring. The adventure was rewarding personally but as citizen it raised awareness for food safety for the community. This was quite natural as questions were answered about the growing environment and care to earn the Organic Certification.
Most important even though the Certification process was not achieved, my family and many others were the benefactor of some awesome produce during that period of time.
Now, having downsized the planting space to a patch Containers are the logical choice. They are amazing though. So, Organic Gardening Success it is.
Fall Planting | Organic Gardening Success
In the Fall, I visited the local Co-Op and picked up two – 3 packs of 4 Gallon Garden-Mate Grow Beds. This done after extensive research and the previous purchase several 247 Garden Grow Bags.
To date, I have planted Radish-French Breakfast, Cilantro, Sweet Basil, Lettuce – Gourmet Salad Blend, Arugula-Rocket, Thyme-Winter (All Organic) in Late Fall.
So I have started and will chronicle the experience of growing here on the Western Coast with various plantings with the goal of producing enough vegetables for myself & others.
The medium, used for the Fall Planting was G&B Organics Planting Mix, Premium Garden Soil has been satisfactory so far. Three Grow Bags were planted with the G&B planting mix and no other amendments have been added yet.
There is the plan to add coffee grounds, Cottonseed, and much more.
